Is a colposcope used during surgery?

A colposcope is also used in surgery during special procedures. For example, in the LEEP procedure the surgeon overviews the operating field through a colposcope. This allows him to magnify the
field in which he is operating and also provides better lighting, in order to remove the area with the lesions with the greatest precision possible.

There is also the option of connecting a colposcope to a carbon dioxide laser device. With the help of a special control pad, the doctor directs the laser on the lesion with millimeter accuracy.
